HUSH: They Can Hear Loot Items — What to Pick Up and Where It Comes From

The loot you can pick up in HUSH: They can hear — guns, ammo, meds, food, materials and valuables — plus the containers it comes from and what it sells for.

Quick answer

Loot in HUSH: They can hear comes from searchable containers — red toolboxes, CRASH CARTs and supply crates — plus items picked up around towers and inside buildings. Expect guns like the pump shotgun and Revolver, a Silencer, shotgun and medium ammo, Medkits and Bandages, food like canned beans and Energy Bars, materials like Chemicals and Cloth Rags, and valuables like Bunker Codes.

  • Open a red toolbox with [E] and grab everything from a CRASH CART with TAKE ALL [R]. A toolbox can turn up empty — that is a normal result, not a bug.
  • Everything you take goes into a 20-slot backpack that shows a running total worth on your HUD.
  • Store your haul at base, then sell it in the SELL tab of the HUSH SUPPLY shop; a Bunker Code sold for 150 credits.

Where loot comes from

Loot hides in searchable containers scattered across the map:

  • Red toolbox — open it with [E]. Sometimes it pays out, sometimes you get the message 'Toolbox Empty' or 'TOOLBOX: Nothing is here'. An empty search is a normal outcome, so just move to the next container.
  • CRASH CART — offers a TAKE ALL [R] prompt so you can strip it in one go.
  • Supply crate — one spawned near the extraction area and yielded a weapon plus shotgun and general ammo, and later a Silencer and a Revolver.

Useful items also sit out in the open: a pump shotgun and Chemicals were picked up around a large tower, canned beans turned up inside a building, and medium ammo came out of a toolbox. Whenever you take something, it moves straight into your backpack — a Medkit pickup switched the HUD to 'BACKPACK 1/20 slots | worth 120' with an x2 stack badge.

That is the full searching routine: open containers with [E], strip crash carts with TAKE ALL [R], and move on when one comes up empty.

Loot you can pick up in a run

Container contents vary from container to container, so treat these as the kinds of loot to recognize rather than a fixed spawn list:

  • Weapons and attachments: pump shotgun, Revolver, Silencer.
  • Ammo: shotgun ammo, general ammo, medium ammo from toolboxes, and Light Ammo.
  • Healing: Medkits and Bandages.
  • Food: canned beans with an eat prompt, and Energy Bars. Food and drink restore your resources and stack up in bulk over a run.
  • Materials and valuables: Chemicals, Cloth Rags and Bunker Codes.

What your loot sells for

Back at base, the inventory screen shows your backpack (5/20 slots in one run) next to your stash with a STORE ALL button that banks everything you carried out. Selling then happens in the SELL tab of the HUSH SUPPLY shop and works from the stash, with SELL 1, SELL ALL and SELL ALL JUNK buttons.

Observed values in the SELL tab:

Bunker Code150
Medkit60
Bandage15
Energy Bar15
Chemicals14
Cloth Rags2
Light Ammo1

The SELL tab above is the full selling walkthrough, and the shop guide covers the other tabs.

Carrying loot out safely

Your backpack holds 20 slots, and the HUD keeps a running worth total as you fill it. The rule text at base puts the stakes plainly: get caught and you lose all you carry but your safe pocket. In other words, loot only counts once you are out — so once your pack is worth something, start steering toward an exit. See what happens when you're caught and how to escape for the details.

Finding richer loot zones

Press M to raise the held HUSH MAP / AREA MAP. Its legend marks red zones as BEST LOOT and yellow zones as BETTER LOOT, with green WAY OUT markers for exits. Named areas include Radio Hill, Precinct 9, Mercy Hill, North Gate, Sunshine Farm and The Farm Track. The marker tells you the zone's loot quality, not what any specific container holds — you still have to search and see.

More promising areas are compared in the best loot locations page, which also explains the map controls. New to the loop? The beginner guide walks a full run from spawn to extraction.

Problems and fixes

A toolbox comes up empty

Containers can hold nothing, and 'Toolbox Empty' is a normal result.

Suggested response

Move on to the next toolbox, crash cart or building — availability varies, so keep searching.

Your 20 slots are filling up

The backpack has a fixed 20 slots, and stacks and loot pile up fast.

Suggested response

Watch the slot counter and worth on the HUD, favor the valuable pickups, and head for a WAY OUT exit to bank the haul.

You get caught deep in a run

The game warns: get caught and you lose all you carry but your safe pocket.

Suggested response

Extract before pushing deeper — loot only counts once you're out.
